What should I do if I’m contacted by a suspected scammer?
If you’re contacted by someone who you think might be a scammer, do NOT engage with them or share any personal information.
You should immediately block and report the scammer to the platform where you’ve been contacted, then update your privacy settings for an additional layer of protection. Use these links for quick access to these functions on WhatsApp and Facebook.
You can report suspected scams to:
- The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC),
- The Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
- The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
- The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA)
If someone contacts you claiming to be a representative of Motley Fool Wealth Management, keep in mind that our employees will always have “@foolwealth.com” in their email address. (Example: firstname.lastname@foolwealth.com).
