What is the Stock Yield Enhancement Program?

The Stock Yield Enhancement Program allows account holders to earn extra income by lending fully-paid shares of stock to Interactive Brokers (IB).

On your behalf, IB sends out securities you own to other investors seeking to short them. That investor pays interest for the securities they borrow. This arrangement with IB means you receive 65% of the proceeds of those interest payments, and IB receives the remaining 35%. The interest rates you receive for each security lent are dictated by supply and demand in the market, therefore, they vary for each security and each day.

You may be eligible for this program if you use IB as your broker and have been approved for a margin account, or if you have a cash account at IB with equity greater than $50,000. Clients can sign up for the Stock Yield Enhancement Program by visiting their IB Client Portal Account Settings. You will not automatically have this feature available to you unless you opt-in during the application process or update your account settings.

If you participate in the Stock Yield Enhancement Program, it will show up on your statement as Securities Lent or Securities Lending Program.
