What are the differences between Motley Fool Wealth Management and The Motley Fool, LLC? Are they connected?

The Motley Fool, LLC, founded in 1993, is the affiliate company of Motley Fool Wealth Management, or “Fool Wealth”. While The Motley Fool, LLC offers specific stock recommendations to self-directed investors, Fool Wealth actively manages portfolios on behalf of clients investing for long-term goals.

Fool Wealth was founded in 2014 to serve investors who wanted the Foolish investing approach but didn’t have the time to manage their stock portfolio themselves. Over the past decade, our firm has expanded to offer professional investing solutions to longtime members of The Motley Fool, LLC who became clients, as well as individuals and families who are brand new to our “Foolish” world.

Clients often ask us…

Do Fool Wealth portfolio strategies include stocks recommended by The Motley Fool, LLC?

Sometimes. While our holdings may overlap with their recommendations, our research and analysis is done independently, and all buying and selling decisions are made by our in-house Portfolio Managers. Fool Wealth is a separate legal entity, and all financial planning advice and discretionary asset management services for our clients are made independently by the wealth advisers and asset managers at Fool Wealth. No analyst of The Motley Fool, LLC is involved in the investment decision-making or daily operations of Fool Wealth and Fool Wealth does not attempt to track any services of The Motley Fool, LLC.

Will Fool Wealth investors go through The Motley Fool, LLC recommendations with me and invest in the stocks I like?

Sorry, but no.  We only invest in stocks hand-picked by our dedicated team of Portfolio Managers and that we believe are appropriate for your time horizon and risk profile. Fool Wealth is designed to be a long-term partner who will manage your whole portfolio with an eye toward retirement or other long-term goals.

Can I continue managing some of my assets on my own using advice from The Motley Fool, LLC subscription services?
